olive oil – 2 tablespoons
dry lentils – 7 ounces
1 small chopped onion
thinly shredded green cabbage – 3/4 cup
crushed garlic – 1 clove
2 vegetarian diced smoked sausages
diced tomatoes – 1 (16 ounce) can
vegetable bouillon – 2 cubes
water – 4 cups
one bay leaf
thyme leaves – 1 teaspoon
cayenne pepper – 1/2 teaspoon
a pinch of salt and pepper to taste
Take a large stockpot or saucepan, put some oil in it, and heat it on medium flame. Add lentils, onion, garlic and cabbage; cook the vegetables until they become tender. Mix the tomatoes and sausage in those vegetables. Crush vegetable cubes on that mixture and pour in some water. Mix in thyme, cayenne pepper and bay leaf. Let the whole mixture boil; Put a lid to cover and let it simmer for about 30 minutes until lentils become tender. To season it, use pepper and salt to taste.
